Imagine for a moment a big, ripe lemon cut into quarters with a sharp knife. Then picture yourself taking a slice of that juicy lemon from the wooden cutting board, peeling back the yellow edges of the skin, pushing the entire pulpy section into your mouth, and then slowly biting down as it squirts lemon juice into your mouth … are you salivating yet? Can you smell and taste the lemon in your mind?
That’s the power of words.
Yet the words we hear can not only make our mouths water, they can speed the pulse, bring tears to our eyes … and, yes, most important, change our hearts!
The Words of Life
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68 NKJV).
Everything Amazing Facts does revolves around proclaiming the powerful words of God. Whether it is through radio, TV, publishing, live evangelism, or the internet, it is all about communicating the wonderful Words of Life that have power to change hearts.
In fact, God promises that every time His Word is broadcast, something good is always going to spring up. “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10, 11 NRSV).
Every day in the Amazing Facts office, we see the miraculous evidence of this truth. Taron recently wrote:
“These online lessons are absolutely great! … I went to your website and saw the Bible studies. I joined in, and the minute I read the first lesson I knew something wonderful was happening to me. I felt more alive than ever! I read and read and read. It was like the Holy Spirit was working inside of me. I now eagerly want to learn more and hope to be a part of your ministries!”
Words That Liberate
Carefully chosen words, like those found in the Declaration of Independence, can mobilize a nation to freedom. In the same way, God’s Words of Life can free the minds of those imprisoned by sin. Jesus promised, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
Darrel, a Bible correspondence student, writes this from prison:
“The Lord is giving me a little piece of heaven inside these walls, to the point where I have to say, ‘Thank God I came to prison!’ Don’t get me wrong; it isn’t easy to make it in here, and believe me, prison doesn’t rehabilitate people. But I have found something inside these walls that is better than anything else I’ve ever had in my entire life, including my freedom. These teachings of Bible truths are the Light in which I walk in a cold and dark prison. Thank you so very much for genuinely caring.”
Sending the Word
Remember that the work of God does not follow economic cycles. Every day, probation closes for thousands who never heard the Words of Life. That’s why it is so important to get the full and everlasting gospel out before the counterfeit is all that people can hear.
There is certainly no shortage of lost people. And there is no shortage of truth in God’s Book. But there is frequently a shortage of funds to get the Words of Life into the ears of the lost. So God invites us to participate in sending the messengers who bear those words. “How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14, 15 NKJV).
When you support Amazing Facts, you are sending out the Words of Life. They are not my words or the words of one of our evangelists, but the words of Jesus! And remember, “No man ever spoke like this Man!” (John 7:46 NKJV).
Please give today … so more souls can hear the powerful Word of Life.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Doug Batchelor
